A Divine Song
The spiritual life is like a song. God sings the lead, and we harmonize with Him. Two voices create one beautiful hymn, composing a most Heavenly melody.
The spiritual life is like a song. God sings the lead, and we harmonize with Him. Two voices create one beautiful hymn, composing a most Heavenly melody. If we fail to harmonize with God, our divine song will be off-key.
In life, God allows us to live for Him, and to follow His will for our lives. If we fail to harmonize with God’s will, our lives become off-key. Why live off-key lives when we were created to live life as a Divine Song?
“You hear those little goldfinches chatting in undertones without ever stopping? -Bird voices.- Talk to Me like that, ceaselessly, Sotto Voce.- Soul voices.”
- Jesus to Gabrielle Bossis, “He and I”
Think of the how the birds chirp back and forth to one another. Christ is asking that we communicate with Him, to resemble the singing of the birds; the endless tweeting from one bird to another. So our life merged with God should be a sort of song, a ceaseless stream of notes and melodies, a beautiful piece of music that never comes to an end, but only gets better with time. Our song with God reaches its crescendo in eternity, where we will find our divine song in its highest glory, at peak performance.
“Rejoice, you righteous, in the LORD; praise from the upright is fitting. Give thanks to the LORD on the harp; on the ten-stringed lyre offer praise. Sing to Him a new song; skillfully play with joyful chant.” - Psalm 33:1-3

May 26th is The Feast Day of Saint Philip Neri.
“He who wishes for anything but Christ does not know what he wishes; he who asks for anything but Christ, does not know what he is asking; he who works, and not for Christ, does not know what he is doing.” - Saint Philip Neri
