God recently laid on my heart the word “Lightheartedness”
I got some blonde put in my hair, and it's much lighter now. It’s super new and fun for me. I love it! It’s a new season.
I went on a walk recently and I saw a guy walking his two giant tortoises in the park, I just laughed and I stopped to talk to him, and I said “You don’t see this every day you know.” And it was just that little wink from God of a lighthearted spirit.
I think often, we get so caught up in the day-to-day of life that we put off having fun. How many times have you canceled something fun you want to do because you feel you are needed elsewhere? You have work. You have serious things to take care of. Someone needs your help…and prioritizing your fun becomes last on your list.
I read something from Monsignor Rossetti, who is an exorcist and he said that he often prescribes possessed people to “Do something fun every day.” He said that every time this woman tried to have fun, she would get severely attacked by demons. Remember that hell is eternal suffering, there’s no joy, there’s no fun, there’s no light-heartedness. Only darkness and suffering. It makes sense that demons would try to stifle fun.
I think a lot of the time, people tend to focus on the seriousness of the faith, confessing your sins, overcoming the world, detachment, etc but it’s important to remember to prioritize the flipside as well.
Finding God in the shining of the sun, in the giggle of a baby, in your favorite flower. Finding God in moments of joy is just as important as finding God in the valley.
We have to get accustomed to living integrated lives where we prioritize our fun and remember that God can be found on the altar, and He can also be found at the wedding feast. The first miracle Jesus performed was at a wedding party….turning water into wine. Even God knows the necessity of having a good party (wink wink) Hold space for the miracle of lightheartedness and celebration. Celebrate the gift of life, and enjoy the life you’ve been gifted with.
I know some of you have been in or are coming out of such a heavy season of life, and you’re craving this newfound lightness after carrying around a heavy heart and I want you to know that God so wants that for you. God wants you so desperately to step into a season of lightheartedness.
Today October 13th, is The Miracle of The Sun in Fatima Portugal. A miracle where at least 70,000 people witnessed the sun dance in the sky. ( Read about it here : "Fatima : 4 Great Lessons From The Miracle of The Sun" ) This is what confirmation of alignment with God looks like. Remember the importance of being lighthearted. Even the sun has danced. So should we.
