Beauty Only Blooms From Its Source
The closer you are to God, the more beautiful your life becomes; as beauty only blooms from its source.
Life with Christ is beautiful. The closer you are to God, the more beautiful your life becomes; as beauty only blooms from its source. The source of all beauty being He who is Beauty Himself, God Almighty. God, who rises and sets the sun each and every day, and creates a myriad of beautiful colors in the sky while He does it, is the source from which all beauty blossoms forth. To live a virtuous and holy life is to live a life filled with soul stirring sunshine. Even amid the crosses of life, one can find joy in suffering, when living in union with Christ.
In contrast, a life filled with sin, is a life void of beauty; as sin darkens the intellect and causes one to be miserable, and irrational. The closer you get to God the more beautiful your life becomes, the farther you get from God the uglier your life becomes. A soul living in union with Christ is a soul who radiates the beauty and love of God to everyone around her.
The modern world has been stripped of beauty because modern man who disregards God, the source of all beauty, can seldom create anything beautiful. Architecture, fashion, manners, morals, entertainment, music, and art, have largely been stripped of beauty. The further man drifts from God who is Beauty Defined, the more unable man is to create anything beautiful.
Take a look at the grand balls, high teas, style choices, elegance, manners, the architecture of Cathedrals and buildings, art, songs, and poetry, that were once presented. Now let us examine the vulgarity, the immodest dress today, the "dances" of today, the horrible music, the modern churches, and the modern sculptures supposed to be "art" and let us ask ourselves, "What is happening?" And let us understand, what is happening in society is that it has been stripping itself of God.
What is currently beautiful in society is that which modern man is unable to interfere with. The vastness of the ocean, the flowers that bloom each spring, the sweet giggle of a baby, the sensation of falling in love; observe that the most beautiful things in life are the things that come directly from God.
"The basic philosophy of the contemporary world is materialism or the denial of the spirit. But if there is no world above that which can be seen, touched, and scientifically analyzed, then there never can be ornamentation, for ornamentation is symbolism or the communication of the nonmaterial through the material. Ornamentation implies another world beyond this." - Venerable Fulton Sheen
There is an innate yearning for that which is beautiful. God has placed within the human heart the capacity of yearning for the eternal beauty of Heaven. Beauty captivates the soul and gives us a small glimpse at the beauty to come in Heaven.
"So strong is tradition, that later generations will dream of what they have never seen." - G.K. Chesterton
Yearning for that which you have never seen, is one step to realizing that this yearning stems from your God given desire for that which is eternal!
