God Wants To Feed You, So You Can Feed Others
The Living Bread and The New Wine are the recipe to satiate the starving and thirsting human heart.
What’s one of best things you can do for someone who is going through a tough time, or a period of transition? - Give them food.
A mother in the postpartum period deeply appreciates the meal trains given to her, to take her mind off of having to figure out what to feed herself and her family; so she can focus on feeding her new baby. A new widow deeply appreciates the meals her community gives to her, because the last thing on her mind is trying to feed herself, when she’s in the throes of deep grief.
We’re all going through a hard time, a period of transition, a new season of life; and what does God want to do for us? - He wants to feed us.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. God wants to become our food and nourish us. Our daily bread consists of God Incarnate, which means we ingest the living power of The Resurrection within us; therefore we should be nothing less than utterly consumed with the fire of God and inebriated with the New Wine that God offers to us.
The Living Bread and The New Wine are the recipe to satiate the starving and thirsting human heart.
In 2019, I went on a pilgrimage to The Holy Land that transformed my life. We were at the location of Saint Peter’s Primacy which is where Jesus told Peter “Go Feed My Sheep.” ( John 21) We were having Mass on the shores of the Sea of Galilee (The waters on which Jesus walked on, and the stormy waters He calmed) I had just received Holy Communion and was kneeling down in prayer and thanksgiving, overlooking the calm and majestically beautiful Sea of Galilee, when the most beautiful feeling I’ve ever felt in my entire life washed over me. This was pure love, pure bliss, and pure peace.
Image I took at Saint Peter’s Primacy in The Holy Land, of a statue of Jesus and Peter, with “Go and Feed My Sheep” inscribed on the rock.
This is the feeling every human being spends their lives searching for - this is the feeling, to feel again you would walk through fire for.
It was as if some of Heaven was being poured into my soul, and inebriated my entire being. I remember looking up to the blue sky and saying to myself, “Oh Jesus, this is a piece of Heaven.”
During this time in my life I was actively pursuing a secular career in acting and on camera hosting, (reporting, news casting etc) I like to say that in one moment the beauty of Heaven overpowered the world for me, and I felt Christ telling me to “Go Feed My Sheep.” After this experience, I quit secular pursuit and began devoting my time to evangelizing the Gospel of Christ The Lord.
Friends what I am saying to you, is that God is calling you to feed people, but you can’t feed people unless you are being fed by God. When God feeds you, you can thus feed other people because you have first been fed by God.
God wants to feed you so you can feed others.
Hallelujah and Amen.
If you don’t allow yourself to be fed by God - you will starve; and if you aren’t allowing yourself to be fed by God, you can’t feed others, which means other people are left starving. Starving for joy, starving for truth, starving for life in abundance.
Studies show that the current generation is the least religious generation. Studies also show that this generation is the most depressed, anxious, and suicidal.
You are obligated as a member of The Mystical Body of Christ to get your nourishment from The Lord, so you can nourish others.
Think of the joy of having your favorite hearty home cooked meal after a long day. We all know the saying, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Realize that you are being called to bring spiritual food to others, to win over hearts for Christ, and to help grow The Church.
“In the same way your light must shine in people's sight, so that, seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in Heaven.” - Matthew 5:16
