Letters From Versailles : Glitz, Glamour & Godliness
Versailles was splendid, a place where Glitz, Glamour, and Godliness collide.
Bonjour everyone! I return from my summer break, to give you my mid-summer musings.
I recently spent some time in Versailles, France. I woke up every morning to a view of The Palace of Versailles. I opened the balcony window, to be met with a soft breeze while I admired the sunrise, as the morning light glistened the gold on the Palace of Versailles while the birds chirped and my princess dreams came true. ( Now, all I need is my Prince Charming ) Anyways, when I’m not writing there’s a good chance I’m twirling around somewhere in a pretty dress, and twirl around I did in Versailles!
I call my dress “Marie Antoinette chic.” I bought this dress last year, thinking, “If I ever go to The Palace of Versailles, this is the dress I’m going to wear.” Well that desire came true! New-agers would call this manifesting, what it actually is, is God in His goodness giving my feminine heart gifts.
Let’s talk about Marie Antoinette. Marie Antoinette Catholic Queen, the last Queen of France. Opulence, style, glitz and glamour…and Godliness? Marie Antoinette a devout Catholic who Heaven considers a martyr?
Me & Mrs. Marie
Yes, according to mystic & stigmatist Marie Julie Jahenny ( Her revelations were approved by the Bishop of Nantes in 1875.) Heaven considers King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette martyrs as they were both beheaded via guillotine. King Louis XVI did a private consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. King Louis XIV did not consecrate France, as Jesus told Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque that he would like him too.

In the final letter Marie Antoinette wrote to her sister-in-law before her execution, she wrote “I die in the Catholic Apostolic and Roman religion, that of my fathers, that in which I was brought up, and which I have always professed. I trust that God in His goodness, will mercifully accept my last prayers, as well as those which I have for a long time addressed to Him, to receive my soul into His mercy.”
I went to the prison where Marie Antoinette was held in Paris before she was guillotined. Her prison cell is now transformed into a chapel. There’s an image of her receiving Holy Communion on the wall, and there is a reliquary she had that contained a piece of the True Cross.
According to Catholic prophecy, the great Catholic Monarch that is to come is said to be a descendant of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

The Palace of Versailles is stunning, there’s an enchanting opulence that comes with beholding past residences of monarchies, the splendor can’t help but make you think of the Kingdom to come, and how grand that will be. - Perhaps Marie Antoinette thought the same.
The Palace Gardens
I overheard one lady say “This (meaning the opulence) doesn’t reflect their religion.” I lost her in the crowd or I would have gone up to her and explained to her how the lackluster of modernism that has replaced the grandeur of opulence, beauty, and sacred art, has taken with it many souls. Grand beauty reflects Heaven. This is why palaces are splendid - monarchies are *supposed* to be earthly reflections of The Heavenly monarchy. The Royal Chapel at The Palace of Versailles where daily mass was held for The Royals is Heavenly.

The Hall of Mirrors
There’s much Catholic art scattered around the palace. The beauty of everything is astounding. Sorry, but white walls are for asylums, give me the opulence that reflects Heaven. I want to see churches fit for Jesus Christ, The King of Kings. I want to see splendor, magnificence, beauty, and ornamentation that makes me yearn for the beauty of Heaven.
I was coming out of Church, and a group of people walked by, peeked in the window, and said “It’s so beautiful in there! Look at the stained glass.” Beauty attracts, beauty captivates, and beauty saves.

I also went to Sunday Mass at the Saint Louis Cathedral in Versailles. Marie Antoinette has attended Mass there before.

I think you are spot on about the power of beauty. I'm Protestant myself, but I've always admired the Catholic church's use of art. It's one of the main factors in the success of the Counter-Reformation.
