Long Live Christ The King
With confidence, we can say “Long Live Christ The King.” Christ reigns now and forevermore, and we await with great hope His Kingdom to come.
Today on the Solemnity of The Ascension of Our Lord, I concluded a novena to Blessed Miguel Pro for the healing of the benign tumor in my ring finger. Last October, I went on a pilgrimage to Mexico City to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe. While in Mexico City, we stopped at the Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia Church, which houses the relics of Blessed Miguel Pro. My Priest blessed us with a relic of the finger bone of Blessed Miguel Pro, and I am praying for his intercession in the healing of my finger!

Blessed Miguel Pro was a Catholic Priest who was executed by firing squad in Mexico, during the persecution of The Catholic Church during the Cristero War in 1927. Father Miguel Pro extended his arms in the shape of The Cross and said his last words which were “Viva Cristo Rey!” (Long Live Christ The King) before being executed.

As the time of his martyrdom got closer, Blessed Miguel Pro said “Get your petitions to heaven ready, because I will be your best intercessor.” Please join me in praying for Blessed Miguel Pro’s intercession in the healing of the tumor in my ring finger! May Blessed Miguel Pro, recall the moment I was blessed by the relic of his finger, and petition The Lord to bless my finger with His healing.
This is the prayer I prayed for the past nine days (a novena) for Blessed Miguel Pro’s intercession :
Blessed martyr of Christ the King, Father Miguel Agustin Pro, you are a special patron of those who labor, those in illness, depression, or despair. You are also a friend of musicians, the captives, and all who work toward social justice. Your beloved brothers, the Jesuits, revere you and count you among the ranks of their saints. You love your people of Mexico and all those loyal to the Church. I thank the Sacred Heart for loving you so dearly. I pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe, whom you love so dearly, to intercede for the cause of your canonization. I pray that you remember me in your eternal and well-deserved rejoicing, and also my needs: [state needs]. Through your courageous life and martyrdom, you have won the crown of life everlasting. Remember me, Blessed Miguel, for I remember you. Long live Christ the King! Long live Our Lady of Guadalupe!

We commemorate The Solemnity of The Ascension of Our Lord into heaven today. I find it fitting that my novena to Blessed Miguel Pro concluded today, as his powerful last words of “Long Live Christ The King” echo throughout today’s Solemnity, in which Jesus ascended to Heaven and sits at the right hand of The Father.
With confidence, we can say “Long Live Christ The King.” Christ reigns now and forevermore, and we await with great hope His Kingdom to come.
