One Thing I Do That Greatly Enhances My Prayer Life
This one simple thing, has greatly enhanced not only my prayer and interior life, but my life in general.
One thing that I do that greatly enhances my prayer life is I ask Jesus to place on my heart the words He would like to hear coming from my lips. This one simple thing, has greatly enhanced not only my prayer and interior life, but my life in general.
Here’s the thing, so often we spend time praying and beseeching God for various things, and a lot of the time that which we ask for are things not in our best interest, or perfectly aligned to God’s will.
When you ask The Lord to place on your heart the words and the prayers that He would like you to say, you are essentially making it so His will becomes your will. You thus know what He would like of you, because you have asked Him to guide your words Himself. The words that come from our lips are often muddled with woundedness, sin, and brokenness. Therefore biases and what you tend to think is best for you, is often what comes out in prayer. In inviting The Lord to come in and direct your words and prayers Himself, you allow He who is Perfection Himself the ability to guide your conversation and prayer time in the best possible direction.
Have you ever thought about what having a perfect conversation would be like? Talking to someone who is perfect? Who knows you and loves you fully, listens and loves, yet gives you the best advice possible? Entering into prayer and having a conversation with Jesus is just that. There is no sin within Him - He is perfect. Therefore if you are going to pray and enter into conversation with He who is perfect, it is wise to ask Him to guide your words so you can pray and talk to Him in a more perfect manner.
This is a good example of Heaven. The perfected versions of ourselves dwelling in a perpetual state of adoration, in perfect communion with God. Eternal wisdom, love, and truth flowing within our hearts; because our essence is perfectly conformed to God, and thus His mind becomes ours and vise versa. This is essentially what union with God is, and I am explaining to you how to pray in a way that propels you into a deeper union with The Living God, and brings you one step closer to living Heaven on earth.
You’d be surprised what He actually wants to hear you say, if you allow Him to guide your words. I say this as a writer, who allows The Lord to write for her.
