Pray For Holy Joy
The beautiful thing about holy joy is that it is a joy that cannot be taken from you.
A Priest recommended that for one week, pray for nothing other than to obtain “holy joy.” So often, when we pray we are beseeching and pleading God for certain things that we want. While God wants us to pray and ask Him for that which we need; sometimes our desires consume us to the point where we lose our interior peace. The practice of praying for “holy joy” allows for interior freedom for the restless soul. We allow God to be God in His sovereignty and allow Him to take care of our needs, and we simply pray not only for a joyful spirit but for a holy joyful spirit.
“Let the joy of The Lord be our strength.”- Nehemiah 8:10
The beautiful thing about holy joy is that it is a joy that cannot be taken from you. Despite whatever you may be going through, holy joy remains steadfast because it is a supernatural joy that comes from The Lord. Holy joy is the joy that the martyrs being sent to their execution experienced.
The martyrs earthly death sentences were their passageway into everlasting life. Holy joy is the reason why Saint Lawrence could say “Turn me over, this side is done.” While being burned on a slow-turning rotisserie. There’s no other feasible answer for that quote besides the fact that well, the fires of hell do not prevail over the Saints God has called his own, and the joy of The Lord is our strength. So I want to encourage you, to take a moment to pray for holy joy; and watch the joy of The Lord, truly become your strength.
