Purgatory: Being on The Waitlist For The Wedding Feast
The secret to bypassing purgatory as a woman is to become the embodiment of The Bride. The Bride can’t be waitlisted for her own wedding.
As we find ourselves amid Lent, it’s a fitting time to think about eternity. When we exit time and enter into eternity, the veil shall be dropped and we shall discover ourselves in the place that we have merited. Heaven, purgatory, or hell.
Think of how bright and brilliant the sun is. If we can get “sunburn” on Earth, think of the scorching that would take place the closer you get to the sun. You would be annihilated in light of its brilliant rays. Now, think of the brilliance of The Son of God, The Sustainer of the sustainer of life on earth. Think of the brilliance of God, He who created the sun. If you cannot casually stroll into the presence of the sun, what makes you think you can casually stroll into the presence of He who created the sun?
Alas, the case for purgatory. “But nothing impure will enter the city, nor anyone who does shameful things or tells lies. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of the Living will enter the city” - Revelation 21:27
To enter into Heaven, and dwell in the presence of He who is holiness Himself, one has to be cleansed of sin and purified. If not purified on earth, one must undergo purifying in purgatory. Purgatory is a great act of mercy from God. Not wishing for anyone to perish, but for all to be in communion with Him; He gives souls a place of purification before the place of eternal satiation.
I recommend reading this article, for a good in-depth understanding of Purgatory : https://www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/is-purgatory-in-the-bible
Those who are in purgatory will one day enter into Heaven, different from those sentenced to hell, who will be eternally separated from God.
Heaven is The Wedding Feast of The Lamb. The Wedding between Christ and His Bride The Church.
“And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” - Revelation 19:9
Purgatory is being on the wait list for The Wedding Feast, and hell is not being invited. Now, I’m sure you’re thinking “But I don’t want to go to Purgatory, I want to go straight to Heaven.” Well, I’ve got some good news for you! What if I told you there is a way to bypass purgatory?
Saint Therese of Lisieux, once exclaimed to a sister who struggled with believing one could go to Heaven without first going to purgatory :
“You do not have enough trust. You have too much fear before the good God. I can assure you that He is grieved over this. You should not fear Purgatory because of the suffering there, but should instead ask that you not deserve to go there to please God, Who so reluctantly imposes this punishment. As soon as you try to please Him in everything and have an unshakable trust He purifies you every moment in His love and He lets no sin remain. And then you can be sure that you will not have to go to Purgatory.” - Saint Therese of Lisieux
The main point Saint Therese makes is that purgatory is for people who lack trust in God. I think one of the main issues those in The Church face right now is not having an intimate relationship with Christ.
Too much going through the motions and generalized spirituality opposed to having a thriving, intimate, and real relationship with The Living God. Let’s put it this way - two in love cannot stand to be apart. If you’re in love with The Lord now, and allow Him to be in love with you, nothing is keeping you apart. If you keep Him at bay and prevent Him from loving you fully, there’s space between the two of you, which means there needs to be purification for love to be perfected.
Heaven is for love perfected, aka “I have embodied The Bridal Role of The Church, and am ready for The Wedding Feast.” Purgatory is “I have not yet embodied the Bridal Role, and am on the waitlist until I become The Spotless Bride.” Hell is, “I have rejected the Bridal Role and utterly failed, Heaven is a place I can never go.”
As a baptized woman, you are eternally espoused to Christ The Prince of Peace. If you switch your thinking from “not sinning” to “upholding the marriage vow” meaning you actively desire to have a thriving relationship with Christ, intense love and devotion naturally cancel out sin. When I say I think one prevalent issue in The Church is that there is too much “going through the motions” I mean that the concept of striving to “not sin” comes from a place of “honoring God” but in a generalized way that lacks the familiarity and intimacy of a personal relationship. Honoring “God in the sky” as opposed to God dwelling inside the depths of your being, in your secret inner shrine. God whom is the eternal spouse of your soul. Do you understand what I am saying?
Sin is infidelity to Christ. If you begin thinking of things relationally, you will advance far more rapidly.
Trust comes when you know you can depend on someone. When we trust someone we can relax and feel at ease, knowing that despite whatever we are going through, we can trust in the person to walk us through the storm. When we lack trust, it’s because we lack the experience of the dependability of the person. To experience the dependability of a person, well you need to be close to that person.
I think we ladies have it far easier than men. As a woman the natural inclination of your heart is to “Be saved by Prince Charming.” Women instinctively are drawn to The Savior, and His ultimate and complete love. Men have to go out of themselves in search of something greater than themselves. Awe, sacrifice, and adventure, fuel a man’s discovery of God. For a woman, our being is created to be receptive, we simply have to tap into that fully, be still, and receive God. Men are called to be reflections of The Bridegroom, and women are called to be reflections of The Bride.
"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church, and delivered Himself up for Her." - Ephesians 5:25
"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, His body, of which He is the Savior." - Ephesians 5:22- 23
The devil has tried to make women want to be like men, deceiving them through the false feminist movement making life far worse for themselves. When you step out of your natural feminine essence, and lose tune with the harmony of your being, it results in spiritual death instead of advancement.
The secret to bypassing purgatory as a woman is to become the embodiment of The Bride. The Bride can’t be waitlisted for her own wedding.
